FAQS

1. What is a voice ready network?
· With IP technology set to become the new communication standard, Diamond Solutions broadband provides business grade, voice ready access, so you have the solution in place to take advantage of VoIP when you believe the time is right.
Read more about VOIP.

2. How do you guarantee an uncongested network?
· Regardless of the size of connection, if the network is being over used by a large volume of users, the speed of access will decrease. Our network is uncongested, which limits degradation of service and ensures that users can access the information they require quickly and efficiently.
Residential broadband is capped and congested and therefore unsuitable for business use. Furthermore you will not be able to run voice over congested networks and applications in the future.

3. What is a contention ratio?
· The contention ratio refers to the number of users that effectively share one single connection. If you subscribe to a service that allows a high number of users per connection you will receive a slower connectivity. Therefore Diamond Solutions broadband packages can provide a certain level of throughput on the network which allows us to deliver what is the equivalent of extremely low contention ratios. Please refer to the individual Product Specifications for the contention ratio relating to each package.

4. What difference does the Mb make to my connection?
· For users who want an extremely fast connection that is capable of supporting voice or video, daisy broadband can offer up to 8Mb downloading at competitive prices. A connection this fast allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously, giving high volume business users a product that is truly capable of meeting their needs. To help you decide what Mg will meet your requirements please go to Choosing the right package.

5. How important is the upload speed?
· Many people tend to forget about the upload speed of a connection and simply concentrate on the download speed. However the rate at which data can be uploaded is an important factor when considering the overall speed of a connection.
Some applications do not just involve receiving data, but sending it too. For example video conferencing involves all parties sending as much data as they receive. Therefore a user can only receive information as fast as the other user can send it. Diamond Solutions broadband can offer up to 800kbps uploading, one of the fastest upload speeds on the market.

6. What is ‘downtime’?
· Downtime is when you loose your connection due to technical faults which can occur anywhere between provider and yourself. Diamond Solutions therefore use a fully redundant self healing network.

7. What is a ‘Fully redundant self healing network’?
· No matter what speed an internet connection is, if there is a problem with the network nobody will be able to download or upload data. In the event of a fault at a BT exchange that could result in your connection failing, Diamond Solutions broadband provides a network that will re route traffic via a different exchange. This way, the user should not experience any downtime or technical issues.
