For obvious reasons we’re more in to diamonds than crystal balls in the office; however, we thought we’d turn our hand at looking towards 2017, and what mobile technology is likely to be doing over the next 12 months. Remember, if we’re right, you heard it here first.
If we’re wrong, well, let’s just move on.
Throughout the next 12 months virtual reality will become more of a, well, reality. We already have some awesome games and apps playing around with VR and AR, but moving forward, we will see these capabilities combined more with chatbot assistants to enhance customer experience.
According to UBI Research, a rise in OLED display technologies could mean that by 2020, we will start to see rollable or even foldable smart devices. Throughout next year, and beyond, we will see technology giants playing around with this more in a bid to be the first ones to reach this point.
Consumers are always looking for anything that makes charging their devices easier (and ideally, quicker). Designers and manufacturers therefore spend a lot of time considering alternative options, and it may well be that wireless charging becomes a focal point throughout 2017.
The Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things will keep pushing for further integration between devices and, well everything else. However, as things stand, there is no simple way to connect multiple devices and apps which means everything remains very segmented. In turn this means it remains quite a difficult thing to fully engage with. There is no doubt that great strides will be made in this area to ensure further interconnection in every area of life.
Whatever 2017 holds it’s likely to only get bigger and better when it comes to technology, especially within the mobile phone/smart devices arena. So much has already changed in the last few years that in many ways it’s impossible to really think where we’re going to end up. However, as always, it will be interesting to see and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
From everyone at Diamond Solutions we hope you and your staff have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017.
